Fruit Rescue Southern Highlands

Some people have fruiting trees and vines that they can’t harvest. Some people are available to pick the fruit. Fruit Rescue Southern Highlands (FReSH) brings those people together.

You register as a picker or a grower. When a fruit crop is ready, a convenient time is arranged for picking. When the work is finished, the fruit is divided between grower and pickers.

FReSH for Growers
  • Ends the stress of watching a tree groan under you can’t harvest
  • Removes an insect feast that could upset the neighbours even more than you
  • Means you can eat your own fresh fruit

If you have fruit that needs picking (now or later), fill out the Grower Registration online form.

FReSH for Pickers
  • Puts well-earned fruit into your appreciative hands
  • Provides a good time picking fruit

If you fancy picking some fruit, fill out the Picker Registration online form.

FReSH For Everyone

To see how successful such a scheme can be, check out Vancouver, Toronto and Edmonton in Canada. Toronto’s Not Far From The Tree project picked 3003lb in 2008, 8135lb in 2009 and a staggering 19,695lbs in 2010. That’s good food that would otherwise have been wasted.

Let’s get together to harvest the home fruits of the Highlands.

FReSH is a project of Transition Shire Wingecarribee and CANWin.
